Marlhill Open Farm

Marlhill Open Farm is owned and operated by the Fitzgerald Family. Marlhill Farm opened in October 2021. The farm is designed with a young family in mind. The Fitzgerald’s have travelled extensively and visited many family destinations around Ireland and Wales and they know what a family needs to have a fun day out!  Relax and enjoy getting up close and personal with our animals or have a cuppa in their brand new café while the children burn off steam in the in-door and out-door play areas.

Lar na Pairce

Lár na Páirce, is the first museum dedicated to telling the story of the Gaelic Games. Located in Thurles, the birthplace of the GAA, Lár na Páirce GAA Museum is home to Ireland’s first and oldest collection of Gaelic Games sporting heritage.  There are exhibitions on hurling, gaelic football, handball, camogie, hurley making, sports broadcasting, the Sam Melbourne Collection of GAA memorabilia and much more.

Cabra Wetlands

The Wetlands have no less than 15 different habitats including ponds, reed swamps, hedgerows, streams and wild flower meadows. Footpaths and raised walkways with beautifully illustrated information boards as well as a large bird hide make an ideal place for school children to discover the sights and sounds of nature in a safe and child friendly environment.

Suir Blueway Tipperary

Follow the trail of Tipperary’s River Suir from Cahir to Carrick-on-Suir. There are 56km of great kayaking opportunities along the river but if you want a steadier pace walk or cycle the trails. The Suir Blueway Tipperary is the perfect escape for all the family to savour some of Ireland’s most beautiful countryside and fascinating history.

Mitchelstown Caves

Mitchelstown Cave is one of the largest and most complex cave systems in Ireland. On the guided tour you will follow ancient passageways and visit massive caverns in which you are surrounded by indescribable dripstone formations, stalactites, stalagmites and huge calcite columns.

TOWN PARKS

Thurles Town Park

Thurles town park in located in the town centre and boasts an all weather seven a side soccer pitch / basket ball court area, a skateboard park, traffic free walk ways and 10 outdoor gym equipment areas.

Templemore Town Park

Situated just off the main square in Templemore the park offers a free outdoor experience for every family member featuring a gorgeous fairy trail, many pretty bridges, a pitch and putt course, ducks and swans and many picnic stops. Templemore Town Park offers a wonderful family day out where everyone can spend time unwinding, walking and observing the beautiful wildlife all around.

HORSE RIDING

Tipperary Equestrian Centre

Located 1km from Thurles town, the centre offers 72 beautiful acres to ride on and provides excellent opportunities for leisure riders both young and old, as well as a professional learning environment. Facilities include an indoor arena, two outdoor arenas, cross-country and trekking along the banks of the River Suir.

Tipperary Mountain Trekking Centre

This is a small, family-run Equestrian Centre in the Tipperary Uplands specialising in private treks over pristine mountain pastures. Their guided one and two hour treks are completely off-road over historic and unspoiled meadows with spectacular views, ancient archaeological remains, and a legend or two.

Crossogue Equestrian Centre

Crossogue House specialises in entertaining individuals and small groups/families from the beginning of April to mid-June and then from mid-August through to the end of November.
